Gretchen Glasscock founded Advancing Women , online in 1996, the first website to help women break through the “glass ceiling”, providing career strategy , tools, resources, products and services to support women’s career, business and leadership goals, and work-life balance issues. Using state-of-the-art career site technology, strategic content, and deep ties within the diversity community, Advancing Women set the goal of mentoring women electronically to support them in dealing with the challenges women face in careers and business.
Based on decades of business experience and in-depth research by some of the leading organizations in the nation devoted to this issue, Advancing Women, led by Gretchen Glasscock, is considered a leader in the field of women’s equity. Gretchen invested not only her experience and skills, and but research, strategy and technical skills from a deep pool of experts, as well as start up costs and continuing support of AdvancingWomen’s non-profit research section. This investment has led to the continous development of a platform which will enhance Advancing Women‘s mission of providing career and business support to its users and all who want expert help in getting from where they are now to where they want to be.

Gretchen Glasscock, Dr. Genevieve Brown, Dr. Beverly J. Irby, co-founded the innovatiive Advancing Women in Leadership Journal, the first on-line professional, refereed journal for women in leadership, a professional career advancement and leadership research publication. Authors from all professional fields submit manuscripts which through their analysis and synthesis challenge traditional thinking and examine outcomes of strategies for women to advance and succeed in their careers.
Advancing Women In Leadership Journal is a core component of Advancing Women‘s concept of electronic mentoring, allowing women leaders to share their stories and experience, to document and pass along proven strategies for a successful career path. It has succeeded in drawing a large, global audience of professionals.
Gretchen also has spoken and participated in conferences to advance women nationally, including at the White House, and internationally, where she had taught European women how to leverage technology to advance their business and careers. Gretchen has been published internationally by Cambridge University Press, by universities, military academies, medical and business societies, and financial organizations in Australia, India, and Saudi Arabia and translated into Mandarin Chinese, reaching a Chinese audience of over 2 million.
